Sunny is a creative and positive change agent. Having held many senior positions in Tasmania’s most successful creative Agencies, Sunny (as he’s known to industry) has turned his energy and expertise to Tavs Tas as a community-based endeavor to advocate for and develop inclusive opportunities for our most disadvantaged young sports people. His passionate belief that creative thinking and commercial intent can combine to effect profound change, is his driving motivation.
Joining Ogilvy & Mather as a junior designer 30 years ago, he becoming a Director of the Agency at 27. As Creative Director of Mazengarb, Leo Burnett, Director of Tasmanian Media Management and subsequent Design Director and part-owner of Clemenger Tasmania (now re-birthed as The20), Sunny has shown a proven ability to apply a unique combination of creative and business experience that delivers innovation to drive purpose and potential.
Sunny is a past Dept Chair of Design Tasmanian, where he implemented a branding and management plan that now sees the organistation perform as a peak body and supporter of Tasmanian designer-makers’ unique products. He is a founding judge and facilitator of the Design Tasmania Award and past change agent of the print, digital and design industry’s peak awards – The Diemen Awards.
As a past President of New Town Cricket Club, he applied professional methods to the Club that resulted in cultural and competitive advancement, future-focused development programs and financial sustainability. NTCC was an earlier leader with the meaningful inclusion of female cricketers into its rosters. Now, NTCC is in the process of developing a pathway for disability players to join their junior grades in 2017/18 season.
Sunny’s personal goal is to see Tavs Tas achieve significant revenue growth and in turn greater funding distribution, while increasing awareness and activation in regard to our State’s most talented yet disadvantaged sports people. As a meaningful collaborator, he’s excited by the opportunity to work with the talents of an invigorated, professional Board, Ambassadors, Associates and Supporters to lift the aspirations of individuals and the community alike, in the passionate pursuit of participation, achievement and fulfillment of our youths’ life dreams.
Sunny’s role is Marketing and Sponsorship with Tavs Tas and is an advisor to the Tavs National Executive on branding and development. He’d welcome any inquiry, idea or pledge of support from interested people and groups with a shared belief in Tavs Tas’ values and activities.
