Tenpin bowling with friends, the perfect pre-xmas gift.
Saturday, December 1, 2018 – Anne Nalder, Tavs Tas Board Member, has a day out with the wheelchair tenpin bowling crew at the Moonah Bowl, Hobart.
The pre-xmas get-together saw wheelchair bowlers being coached and encouraged to play with friends and family as a fantastic way to enjoy physical and social interaction. It’s all about fun!
Earlier in the year…
During June 2018, we have been busy building partnerships and we’re pleased to announce the successful restart of a kids Tenpin Bowling League in partnership with Paraquad.
A kids league had been in operation for some years and restarted with 7 kids, aiming to get to 15 or so. There had been disappointment amongst the community that the league had fallen over with one mother describing the league as “a Saturday morning ritual that she missed”.
Children who do well have the chance of continuing on into the State League which also operates at the Moonah Tenpin Bowling Centre.
There will be enough cash donated by the Tavs to continue the League for some time however the they are looking for sponsors to help with the costs and to buy bowling balls with retractable handles allowing kids in wheel chairs to bowl without ramps.
Tenpin bowling is popular because its all weather, social and competitive and gives parents and carers a chance to share experiences.
